We allready know what it is / Is not.
Plus there are 3 other threads descussing / dissing this car, I don't think we need another one.

Also the Text does say will accept offer around the 12500 mark.

Also he has been honest with as much information as he know's and has pointed out that the car was black and labeled 420SE in its past.

I really think this negativity does no good for the value of all Wedges.

If I had the money (the sensible figure that is) I would definitely be interested. You could write a good book about this car its history and the spirited discussions thereof.

Imagine turning up at next Wedgefest in this most beastly of beasts and displaying the multitudinous variety of names and badges that this chariot has flown under.

If I owned this car it would have no name and no badge. Everyone could freely express their opinions to my face and I wouldn't give a flying fig! But that's because of my strength of character and laid back attitude.

JJ, best of luck, hope you get good money for it. I envy the next owner.

What a good idea, maybe it could be photographed in the SEAC group photo.

Who are we kidding, i will chip in £100 towards the "buy it and burn it fund"

I really am getting totally peed off with the whole thing . To quote some of the resident experts:

If it isn't "rose jointed " it can't be a SEAC

It must be a 390 with an alternative body which somebody has called a "SEAC" , and put labels on .

It must have gone back to the factory and had a 4.2 engine put in it .

My old car , which is now owned by one of the aforementioned "experts" is the "Fast Lane " car , D668YLP, a little history !!

It is a 390SE chassis , with a 4.2 NCK engine , and a "SEAC" style body in Aramid. The trim is from a 350, hence the Rover instruments, door panels . It also has a 390/400SE exhaust and always has , it has round headlights from a 350 , and to make the body fit the chassis and exhaust , has a detachable lower rear valance .It is not "Rose jointed"

I could give more details , but I will leave that to the current owner.

To use the the standards which some of these experts apply , this car should be classified as a 390 , with an alternative body, and a 4.2 engine.

......or , the alternative , grow up all of you , accept that the documentary evidence does not exist to prove how many "SEAC's" were built , and the Firefox is potentially as original , IF NOT MORE , than some of your own .

too much vino Neil ?

It did go back to the factory and have a 4.2 put in

D668YLP Seac chassis is slightly different to 390SE

JJ is trying to pass his car off as something it clearly never ever was - shameful

Not at all David,

Your car is a 390 chassis , check with Dulford , or Streaky , you should not try to pass off that car as a SEAC .

Don't worry David, only applying your standards to the provenance of a car .

Check with Chris, 668, was a 390 pulled from production , which became accepted as an original SEAC , because it was used as a press car ( Fast Lane) , but was never built as such . It was/is a pre production prototype( Where has that comment come up before?)

In my opinion 668 is a pre production , and no less real for that , SEAC , PROVE to me that the "Firefox " isn't !!

........., the old adage , "A picture is worth a thousand words" does not apply here , context is everything.

As always - everyone has a fair point but lets not get too personal here .. as they are all great car's and the best we can do is to do what they were designed for.

Drive them driving

Now get out there and give it a good sound thrashing biggrin

Neil the "proof" has already been posted - pictures from the late eighties. The owner's family who knew the car before purchased confirmed that it was never a SEAC

"You can discount it from the collection of SEAC's"

There is not a shred of contemporaneous evidence supporting it being a SEAC

I agree with Rev and Leo before him - even if it's just a 390SE with a 4.2 NCK engine, it's still a helluva car that I, for one, would love to have the funds to own. As a car. To drive and enjoy. With a fantastic soundtrack. And great 'street prescence'. It's a nice Wedge - albeit with a weird steering wheel, but that's the only bit that should be burnt!! smile

Everyone knows the controversy about this car and no-one would buy it unwittingly thinking it is (or isn't?) a SEAC - but as far as I can see, it is a fair price for a somewhat interesting car in very good condition - whatever it's provenance...

.. but thats the problem, surely - someone may purchase it on the strength of the advert and the SEAC title. cry

Totally agree ..

Let's start another thread ..

Another SEAC - FOUND.

Woodies..

It's got the rear spoiler after all.

Let's face it - a 420SE would be even rarer than a SEAC and in many peoples eyes just as desirable. The car just needs a decent steering wheel biggrin

I tend to agree with David here. Because of the way that TVR operated no two SE AC cars are likely to be absolutely identical however the Yellow 390SE in this controversy has undergone two name changes: one to a 420SE when it aquired a 420SE engine and one to a SE AC when it had a re-spray.

On this basis the only part of a SE AC car that is unique to the model is the AC sticker - pop it onto any SE and your car can claim to be a SEAC.
