Of the options, Toyo Proxies(sp) seem a good price over the SO3's. At £104 fitted etc (each). The Goodyear ones are a bit more and so are SO3. At 3000 miles a SO3, anyone have a simular run rate on any of these beasties?

I think I will give the Toyo's a go. The last set of Yoko's scared me a lot although it must be said they were an old design. Should be able to give you a good/bad report by Gang on the Green.

My local Sports Car Tyre place was vv assertive and said he wouldn't fit the SO3's as for TVR's there's only one tyre to fit - the Toyo Proxo's. Very forceful chappie indeed - I'm told he knows his stuff! Sorry I can't give personal opinion as I sold the car(400SE). My 420's got BFGoodrich 235/40/17" which are new and are incredibly sticky but I've got a puncture in the side wall of one of the rears - £156 fitted - aahhhhh.
Steve how much are the 16's on your car? I've got a set of OZ split rim (400 style but 16") to fit the 420.

SO3's are the mutz nutz but in 2 years ownership and 5 sets of tyres I am prepared to give something else a go (change in driving style as well?). My local tyre shop can't seem to source the Goodyears spoken about in an earlier thread so will order the Toyo's today.
PS every other tyre dealer in the area adds another £50 or so to the price?
PPS Rev, how's the wear rate on yours?

Maybe my local tyre guy gets a bung from Toyo and not from Bridgestone to sell tyres - hence his assertiveness/enthusiasm! . The acid test is always the end user. I certainly know the S02's on my 400 were much better than the RE71's! Both Bridgstone's though!
On the 400 with the S02's it was still easy to unstick the back in the dry though the 420 with the BFG's is anchored (unless really prevoked!)- marvellous. Pity the leaky tyre and low budget has stopped play

Well I am going to call the tyre shop in a mo and go for the Toyo. Hopefully they have Goodyear listed by the next time. Soon find out how good they are. RE71's used to last for millenia on the 350.
Thanks for the input all.
Maybe a section could be added (or a thread) for comments on tyres (unbiased and sensible). Come on we all use them?

The rear wear is good so far but I don't get to
use it as much as I'd like !

**makes mental note to move closer to work - so
I can drive the TVR every day !!**

When I was looking for new tyres - the Goodyear F1's,
Toyo's & Bridgestone S03's - were all pretty
equal.

Your Choice really.

I do find the S03's track quite a bit but it could
be down to runing negative camber on the front.

Rev,
How much negative you running. My 420 SEAC follows the ruts, etc quite a bit, which is fun It is non-PAS which makes it even more fun!

Peter Smith Sports Cars - TVR dealer- fitted new tyres all round on my SEAC as part of the puchase deal. Bridgestone S03s. Seem great in the dry, but not really tested them in the wet. Previous experience on a wedge was 205/60 Avon Z1s, so not supprising there is a big diffence.

I found the SO3's to be superb in the wet. Less, if any, brown trousers moments than others I have used.

Have to say the Toyo's grip well. Softer feel on the rear but maybe thats the wall's not as stiff. Tried to give it what for and it just holds. Feels softer than the Bridgstones. On the flip side the Bridgstones gave a better feeling of whats going on though. I feel that the Toyo's may snap away without warning?
