Is it possible to align the trigger coil and no1 rotor segment and the rotor arm pointing at No 1 on the dizzy and still be 180 degrees out.All the alignments i have followed by the book.Is there a mark on shaft of the dizzy its a Motorcraft dizzy.Regards Ron

There should be marks on the crank pulley might be worth giving it a gentle clean to bring up the marks? Also on my old 280 there was just a slight cut out on the pulley for TDC and a putch hole for best setting. I do not think there are any marks on the dizzy shaft. I will email you a piccy of my old 280 engine bay for reference

It sounds like you have set the distributor when No. 1 cylinder was on the induction stroke not the firing stroke.

Thats my next steep. its already in place i have reversed the dizzy leads,I have a problem i live in a small village in Kent,my next door neighbour has a scottish deerhound the size of a small donkey and the sound of the car trying to start upsets her dog.so being sunday i will leave it till tomorrow evening and give it a try thanks for your help.Regards Ron

I've scanned the Ignition chapter of my TVR V6 manual and e-mailed it to the other day
