Someone has put some very short springs on the front of this seac , so short that the front spoiler is 3.5 inches off the ground which makes it a nightmare driving most places .Having said that the handling is unbelievable , so if I get some longer ones is that going to compromise handling ? they are very new which is a pity if I have to change them .

Depends what you do. IMHO 2" longer and the same spring rate would handle better after correcting the geo.

Will take a pic of springs today , how do I know which ones I've got on and which ones I need to increase ride height by say 3 inches min. ?

I sit my springs on a jack and compress them against scales wedged against the underside of the bench, measuring increments. Other than this dodgy but surprisingly reliable method someone will have to measure them for you. IMO it is essential to know your present spring rate.

Why don't you get some new coil over shocks and springs of Steve Heath, you can then put any spring rate on you want, and also they are height adjustable. you may as well do the drop links as well. if not allready done.

Can you measure the rate as well?

I always thought the hide height of Denzil's SEAC was really low and would cause issues..

Exhaust being a big issue with wedges..

I will step on one spring (96 kg) and measure the differents in height.
That is all I can do !

212lb - should go down by about an inch. I've never heard of that method before; I guess that it might work if you can get help. Perhaps put a board and packer on top with a spirit level to measure the drop.

I called Richard Thorpe about this ages back. Fronts are 300lb/in, rears are 200lb/in. On a S2 390SE that is...

Mines currently got 500lb/in on the front, and will be going up to about 250 on the rear when I get round to it...

Ed.
P.S. The Konis handle 500lb/in quite nicely on the front, but they do have to be turned up almost all the way. Car currently capable of pleasant oversteer when I ask it...

Sounds around 100lb/in too low for the rear. r/f is usually .75 to .66

Had a word with Steve Heath today , very complex subject are springs , as you can mess up the handling if you only get two for the front , cost of coilovers is about £600 , if you get original wedge springs they have to be specially made and it may not alter the ride height much . Tricky !

That's a lot. It's 885lb/in which is even towards the top end for the Wedge racers! 158lb would equate to 400lb/in which would be more in line with expectations.
