Recently my low oil pressure warning light has started to come on at idle once the engine is fully up to temperature. The oil pressure gauge shows about 25psi if its accurate and the oil pressure seems good above idle so, does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be. I've just had the oil changed to try and rectify the problem but it made no difference. Any ideas welcome.

A lot of older milage Rover V8 do this on idle when hot.

The Rover V8 needs flow and not neccesarily high pressure.

You could do a couple of things, change to a thicker oil like VR1 20/50, possible get a higher pressure relief spring, but probably not worth it if pressure ok at higher revs ?

It's fairly normal. You should be using 20W/50 oil on higher mileage engines, thin oil isn't really what they were designed for.

I use Mobil1 15W50 "motorsport" (uh??) oil, and apart from the fact that the word Motorsport
probably attracts another tenner per gallon, its been good.
