I've just found out Griff Growl have picked their date for next year (8th August), shall we start looking at a date for our BBWF? Pick the best while we got a chance!?

Woody - I made the mistake in the past by picking a date too soon.

We picked a date because many regulars could make that date and the TVR CC (in this case) moved their main event date and clashed with ours.

At the end of the day - leaving it until dec / jan is best.

Yes sorry Alan, I remember now, Back Home 2006 clashed with your event (rather off I thought), but I am now trying to encourage an events calendar within the TVRCC to suit all so this doesnt happen so we can stick our date in, but as race calendars arent usually confirmed with most track venues until January(ish) this may affect any possible TVRCC event, so, yes, you maybe right, wait until thats happened and go from there

Can we try pick a date out of the main school summer holidays
so that many of us aren't away on our annual hols?

I don't want to miss next years Fest, as I had to do this year,
because it was the only time all the family could get away together

Cheers

A few of us threw around the idea last time of having two gatherings, one early summer and one late summer.

Hi Steve, I wont get it until about 8pm once I'm home.

Re picking a date.. as far as I'm concerned the sooner the better. Then I can tattoo the date into my diary! ...but I do understand and sympathise with the organisers reasons for leaving the decision till the end of the year.

It might be an idea to have an email distribution list(*) to publish the date and any relevant details on. I found the forever increasing "BBWF thread" time consuming to keep an eye on.

(*)If the powers that be think this is a good idea I would be willing to take this task on. I've sat in the background and enjoyed the previous fests and would like to step up and contribute.

Exactly ..

It's the toughest job ..

pick a date that all like but you can't do it until other big events have committed..

Hence why TVR CC should plan the big event 2 years ahead..

School hols - totally agree..

When are they ?

My kids are generally off the last 2 weeks in July and all August

Just a suggestion - but from my PPL days I remember than June was always
supposed to have the best weather for flying (and therefore Wedging)
((Also means it comes around sooner next year))

Cheers beer

THe reason we decided on the Growl date early was 2 fold. 1. Diamond Rock was on our weekend in 2007 and we had to move our date (and got sh1t weather) and 2. Ettington had 2 weekends in August free and we wanted to book the whole place out. Our preferred weekend was the weekend before but a wedding was booked literally 2 hours before I called!

If you want Ettington I suggest you book earlier to ensure there isn't a wedding booked.
