I need some advice. I have finished installing my Rover v8 in my 280i. I am having problems with the V6 gauges and V8 sending units as the readings on both are off the scale. Are there sending units for the Rover that will work with the V6 gauges? Or can anyone give me vdo or rover part numbers? Or is there a resistor to put in line or some other bit of magic I can do?

Help greatly appreciated.

What is the engine off to start with?

The V8 wedges up to 86-ish used VDO guages. THe sender unit for the oil pressure is rather special, however you could probably use the sender off your V6. All you need is maybe an adapter to fit the hole?

As for the water temp, do you know what the resistance readings are for your V6 sender at various temperatures? Then maybe we could match this up against the V8 sender and suggest some resistors to make it sort of match.

Adam,

I am exploring the V6 Oils sender and it may in fact work. No longer have the v6 sender so I am out of luck there. On another thread I saw a Rheostat approach and that looks promising.
