Oil Pressure

Got a bit concerned about my oil pressure today. I've got a 390SE with VDO instruments, and the oil pressure guage is marked 0 to 5 (and then red).

On tick over when warm, it was between 2 and 3, but cruisng with revs around 3K, it was showing 4.5 which seemed unusually high, and revving up or down didn't make a lot of difference until dropping to tick over, when the needle would drop to between 2 and 3.

I cannot remember it being like this before. What does everyone elses show?

Are you sure that the oil is warm.
My 390 had an oil cooler but no oil thermostat. When the water was warm the oil was stone cold. So what happened then was the camshaft drive to the distributor and oil-pump failed prematurely.
