Well it does say re-registered; maybe he's pulled some wool over some eyes. Could be they no longer do true age-related plates?

Well, according to the RAC vehicle data search thingie, its correct.
It was registered in 1993.
Perhaps it was built in 1985 and stood round in a dealership until 1993 when it was finally registered?

Nah - it would get put on an age related plate OR if no documentation exists to proove the cars age, it would have gone on a "Q" plate.

Seller Says

The car had a private plate, and the plate has been moved to another
car. The TVR was thus reregistared with a new plate (K reg) as this was
the date the car was first registared in this country.

The car is either an '84 or an '85, and while we have asked TVR and the
owners club if we can nail the year of manufacture down we've had some
trouble. Our best guess on the info we have is it is an '85 however this
is a little tenuouse.

Does this help?

Lucky man, I contacted the owner about a week too late to buy this as he'd already agreed a sale with you.

Regarding the 37a engine number, the rimmers list shows that as a TVR engine, 9.75:1 cr.
