Sorry, the orig link led to "a superior decoke solution"
This magic valve device appears to produce a controlled inlet manifold leak that does no more than weaken the mixture. Hence the improved mpg claim. Why fit a "power valve" and then negate the effect!
Similar mixture weakening devices from years gone by inclded the Gefarator, a device thet injected pulses of air, and another contraption that injected steam into the inlet manifold.
All claimed to give better BHP and mpg and are no longer for sale.
No independant assessors have ever found these things to work as far as I know, and if a device costing £50 could be fitted to an engine to give an extra 30% economy I think the manufacturers would have been on to it.
No doubt these are only for sale in the south as us northerners would never be so gullable.
These devices are all pure Snake Oil - IMHO.

Magnets on fuel lines - they're bound to save another 2mpg. Better still - sell them in a green case and call them environmentally friendly. You'll get the £20 purchase price back in less than 3000 miles, then its savings all the way. And of course there's a full no quibble money back guarentee if you're not too embarassed to ask for it - but you may need to leave the device in place for 6 months for it to fully decoke your engine, polish your bores, seal your leaky piston rings, regrind your valves and adjust your engine management system.

Pure Snake Oil.

Well then you doubters fitted two ecotec air valves and tuned them up. Took for the test drive feeling as pessimistic as you lot
Right from the start i thought ello this feels different - much better throttle response/acceleration.
found myself cruising at eighty five as opposed to 70.
All in all much crisper throughout and im dead chuffed except for the annoying rasping noise they make (even with the "max power looking filters on top")
I know that its not addressing the underlying reasons why the engine has lost so much power over the years. But beleive me they work
Today I'm fitting new sheilded cone air filter ducted away from manifolds(only 29 quid so nothing to loose really)
Happy Days

Well well well another result!
i now have "luke warm air induction"
New sheilded air filter away from manifolds and dangling down between rad and somewhere!
cant say its made a difference cos im still revelling in me eco thingies!
cant wait for the drive to work tomorrow as the local plod dont get up as early as me and im going for it
Gonna borrow the infra red thermometer to take some readings.

Oh ye of faith.

This website discusses the whole selection of magic money spinning devices and is well worth a read for folk with more sense than money.

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/cains1/Fuel_saving.htm

A case study of the Ecotek thingy is under

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/cains1/Fuel_saving_ecotek.htm

- with a very lengthy discussion on what is claimed and what it really does.

Couldn't agree more. I've worked in the automotive and fuels testing industry for 25 years and seen many of these pass over my desk. Not one has ever shown any benefit whatsoever in any of the approved industry tests.

Spend the money on air filters, plugs etc.
