400/450 se wanted

You called?
Funnily enough, I've just got the wedge out the garage to have a play. With all the horrible weather we've had, its the first time I've even opened the garage since I put her away after her appearance at the NEC a few weeks ago.
Do I really want to sell her?

Thanks so far guys, i have a few to think about,. Is there a buyers guide for wedges similar to the S series one?
cheers.
There was/is/was/ is /was a superb Wedge Pages site built & hosted by the famous Mikey B - but it now appears to be off line once again which is a great pity as that was/could be a superb reference for you - maybe if we`re nice to him he`ll put it back up again soon????cheers.
In the meantime theres only the very limited stuff on TVRCC site I`m afraid,
You will have quite a choice of 400`s at the mo but 450`s are very few and far between
Good luck with the search hope you find your ideal Wedge
OK, if Mikes site is down, lets help him out.
Edit away.
I'll start with checking the chassis and especially all the damp traps and outriggers for tim worm invasion. Bit harder to check on a 400/450 but a good prod around should show it up. The corner plates on the outrigger tubes can trap damp as well.

Check the shell for stress cracks, especially around the headlights.

Steering wheel is adjustable up/down and in/out (on mine at least, jmorgan)
Wheel bearings on the front can be bought for around a tenner a side so a reasonable fix should it be an issue when buying
Fuel pump, filter and swirl pot are all visible under the drivers side seat on the chassis. Check for leaks and condition etc.

Maybe (if your a complete Wedge novice, and really dont want a Turkey) it may be worth getting a local TVR Dealership or someone like Rob Ingleby (wwwfindasportscar.co.uk) to source you a car and give your prospective car the once over.
Always worth finding a car with a known past and may be worth contacting your nearest TVRCC RO to sound out local TVRCC members cars that may be coming up for sale (assuming your a TVRCC member of course)

There is a wedge 'bible' from Steve Heath, and it has a lot more then a buyers guide. Can order it via the TVRCC website or Steve's own.cheers.
Remaining: Taking a test drive (think of the tips in the wedge bible while at it), having a look at the chassis (as much as possible), verifing suspension and alignment is ok, and that the engine doesn't overheat and is in good maintenance nick.
Good luck hunting,
Rob
