Some of you may have seen my 350i fixed head coupe that crashed two weeks ago; under usual circumstances insurance has an answer within 72 hours to the question; will it be fixed, or will it be a write off...

We are somewhat past the 400 hour mark - no answer.

As the most likely outcome is that they will not have my vehicle fixed I am looking at the possibility that I would find a replacement left hand drive 350i fixed head coupe.

Does anyone know the production numbers? I have heard either 37 or 52 total 350i Fixed heads, but I would expect a fair percentage are right hand drive.

I have just posted an advert hunting for one, but my suspicion is that the chances are very slim that I will find one...

Cheers,

Rob.

Rob,
Graham Robson lists in his book that 52 350i coupes were produced between 1983 and 1987. I would be surprised if much more than half a dozen of them were produced in LHD and my guess is yours is the only one that came to Canada.

Thanks Marshall,

That is pretty much my understanding. I don't know if there are any records of how many are left hand drive. There is mine at very least, but I would think there are some for other countries.

Chances of finding them are pretty slim unless maybe some European Pistonheads members know of one in their local clubs, or have seen one in years gone by...

Cheers,

Rob.

Well, the insurance is fixing my car - as I had no appraisal, and no agreed value on my insurance, they needed time to research what my car was worth.

Still interested in hearing if anyone knows of any left hand drive 350i FHC production figures,

Cheers.

Rob.

Happy to hear the insurers are doing the right thing - particularly as its such a rare beast - I dont recall ever having seen a lefthand 350 Tasmin so good luck with the rebuild Would it be worth contacting TET Mouldings to see if they have front or rear sections, or maybe David Geralds - should find their contact details somewhere on TVRCC site.

I will tell you I am a lot happier person than I was a couple of days ago when I thought the insurance company would hang me out to dry, they are doing it right.

Also, TVR North America have found the front and rear corners, so now it's down to the rear bumper cover, and the rear window, and finaly the front turn signal...

It's going to take a couple of months, and the insurance estimate is about £7,250!!!

Cheers,

Rob.

Yes but just think how big a grin will you have on your face when it comes home all shiny and new?

Good that your wedge is getting fixed.
Think that I had a mail from someone in Belgium with a FHC, but it could be RHD.... If you need more info let me know, and I will try to find if I still have contact details.

Thanks for the offer. Not as critical as it was, now it's just plain interest in production figures, so don't worry about tracking it down. Cheers.

The one outstanding challenge I have is finding the correct rear bumper - I know a similar but different one can be used, but I hope to get the correct one.
