Since I've done the gaskets I've noticed the car seems to momentarily 'die' going over heavyish bumps in the road. It's more than a missfire, if you know what I mean, but it's over as soon as it begins. WTF could cause that then?

Also it stutters under full throttle, but only sometimes. Which could be related to the bump thing. scratchchin

Ta in advance thumbup

Intermittent electronic contact?
Wild stab in the dark... ECU, sensors, throttle pot, injector resistor pack thingy, fuse, relay etc. etc... Oh and anything which attaches to or connects between any and all of the above.

Doesn't narrow it down much!

Most likely to be something disturbed during your recent work... which also doesn't narrow it down much I'm afraid.

Would be useful to try and work out if the "stutter" is loss of ignition or fuel.

Best of luck!

There is a connector in the black/white lead coming from the ignition and it sends a signal to the ECU - if not the ECU won't inject any fuel at all..... Would be the first thing I would check, as this connection is known to be a loose fitting.

Also check all your fuel hoses, as I had this and it was a loose fuel, hose, did not know till it came off, and was stranded and covered in fuel oops.

Maybe as you go over the bump, your foot slips off the accelerator?

This happens to me in reverse when driving the Jeep, and I speed up dramatically!

Fraid so .. singe digit MPG.

I'm trying to remember the guys name in Hertfordshire with a white 420 SEAC - runs webbers and a 4.8 JE motor.

315 bhp.

You could ask him - if anyone can remember his name .. I've got brain fade. He also was note worth during the london Thunder run - as he had a minor engine fire in Central London.

During the Xmas break I will be re-sealing the plenum & trumpet base, checking the throttle pot settings, changing the oil & plugs, checking all connections & getting underneath & topping up the waxoil. smash

P.S. It don't stutter over bumps when it's warm, only when cold. scratchchin

But it still stutters under full throttle, but not always. curse

Worn/loose dizzy? - have you checked the rotor for slop?
Wouldn't say a weber 500 is the solution either, as fuel tends to slosh around in the float chambers. My 4x4 would stumble just turning left into my road. (Ok, its range rover so its somewhat 'at-sea' - but hit a hard bump of road and it would do the same thing)
