Wedge mirrors agin... sorry guys....

Searching through the threads the mirrors on wedges I can see they have been discussed many times, But I can't see any reference to where the actual mirror glass comes from for a Series 2 wedge....

Thinking initially the glass came from the SDI I ordered one from my local spares shop... close but not right.... I faxed an outline of the glass to Summit in Banbury and they can't identify it either. Has anyone any idea what the glass came off.

The only idea I've got at the moment is a cut to order one at Halfords!

I had a cracked LHS mirror on my s2 350i. I looked in all local auto stores trying to match my cardboard template with a production car mirror, allegro was closest i think but not close enough. I ended up buying a sheet of aluminiumised plastic (for reparing mirrors) and cutting it to suit. This stuff is relatively flexible so it pays to have a ridgid backing to stick it to else you can end up with a concave or convex mirror (as I have at present as I stuck it to the plastic support plate). I would be very interested to know if there is a mass produced replacement.

I found MGF glass to be close. The main difference is that it's more rounded on the corners.
