I am thinking of a possible article for the Wedgepages & Sprint and would like to find the oldest Tasmin still in regular use and also the youngest 400/450SE to begin with -

So if you think you own either of the above please send me your, and your cars, details to wedged@tvrcc.com

Not the oldest or youngest but possibly one of the longest ownerships.
A guy near me (4 miles, that's pretty close in the US) has an 86 280i series 2 brown that he bought new.

I used to own #36 which was registered in May '80. I'd say yours was probably early '81 sometime, as the DHCs didn't appear till late '80 IIRC.

Theres a blue FHC on a 'W' plate at RT Racing at the moment having a chassis refurb done. So thats a 1980 model?

When did the wedges first go on sale? Were the first the 200's, or was the 280 and 350 reliased at the same time?
First cars were released in late '79 (V plate). Initially it was just the 2.8 FHC then around the time of a motor show late in '80 the DHC was released.

The 200 was supposed to boost sales (around '82?) but didn't.

Peter Wheeler drove chassis 10, the oldest that seems to keep turning up here wink is chassis 14.

Off topic I know and excuse my ignorance, but how do you find out the production number i.e., 10 or 14? Can you tell from the chassis number?

It's the two or three digits before the FI at the end ...FI meaning fuel injection, IIRC (FH at beginning = Fixed head, DH = Drophead ).

Explained in the 'Bible'. smile
