I was searching ebay the other day for turn signal lenses for my 390 to replace the unit damaged when my bumper got clipped by another car and stumbled across a red 280i, USA model, left hand drive on ebay.

The bidding just closed and I scored an 1986 280i, complete but needing a restoration for a measly $1221.00 biggrin

I smell new paint and a v8 swap coming...

Upper or lower? When I get the 390 painted someday I was thinking of removing them to make a mould and putting replicas on the 280. I'll hopefully have it done this summer. If you still haven't found one by then I'll make two copies.

The lower underslung one is what we are looking for - keep me posted cos our search over here for a loose one has turned up nothing as yet so you may be our only source!

<LOL> Thats a dead ringer for how my race taz started out, almost exactly apart from mine has the small metal tvr badge rather than the big transfer. It looks a bit different now though in Bright pink and RHD... It was origionally LHD US spec !!! same colour as that and same bumpers / front spoiler, bonnet etc.. Interestingly the boot lid is even slightly different to the other cars ( I know that as i had a mould made from a standard car and it needs modifying to fit... Not that surprising I suppose as the rear moulding is also different to uk cars with the narrow us size number plate mount.

I'll tell you what, I'll place a call or three to fiberglass shops and see what they charge to replicate something like that. If they perform that service at a reasonable cost I'll unbolt the puppy and send it off to the shop, have two made, you split the cost plus shipping? Fair nuff? Otherwise you're waiting on my spare time which is slim these days.

This is true, lol, but UK spec fit mine. smile

The coppers actually pulled me over for having one plate atop the other as shown. They we going to confiscate it as doing such is against the law here but I showed them an entry slip to an all Brit car show and told them the only reason the UK plate was still on the car was for authenticity at the car show. That was believable so they ticketed me for having the Alberta plate fastened with wire... I beat the charge in court.

It's rather ironic this picture, it was taken unknown to me on the way to the car show I mentioned. I stumbled across pics of my own car on the net.

I'll leave this one LHD. I don't mind the RHD car, it sure turns heads, but left turns at intersections on right hand traffic roads put you at a disadvantage.

You can convert yours to `Left Hand Drive` now...
Wedges: you can always make improvements and changes. Flexible cars, except on the road and track (just as we like it).
Hope you get your UKcar fixed quickly and enjoy roaring up the roads in Canada again.
