If the rubber is cracked on the engine mount points does that mean they are knackered , where do I get them from and how much , is it tricky to replace them ?

When the engine mounts on my car failed the first sign was the one of the exhaust manifolds knocking on the chassis - as a result of too much engine wobble I guess. Tower View replaced them and it was a relatively easy (not expensive!) repair.
Rimmer Bros had the mounts for sale for less than £20 in their Rover 'parts consignment from India'.

Easy job, just stick a jack under the sump with a lump of wood to spread the load, to adjust the height.

As has been said - it's an easy job..

Make sure you replace the bolts and nyloc's (4 in all).

2 mounts I think the bolts to the bracket are 7/16 UNC will double check over weekend.

Quite easy to change, nuts can get a bit rusted plus one of the nuts to the bracket is in quite a tight place.

you can allways take the bracks off the engine, if access is a problem. 3 bolts, 1 at the top two at the bottm.

As said jack the engine via sump with wood.

Thanks for that Leigh , are these brackets a standard item that will fit any car with an rv8 or are they wedge specific ?

http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/cgi-bin/rimmer?findpar... Is this the engine mounting that will fit a wedge ? Seems very reasonable. No pic though .

Combine - I know it might be too late but one of the TVR suppliers (cant remember who) has developed an uprated mounting that wont break - it looks like a sheel support cage around part of the rubber..
