Hi
i have just bought a 350i (1987) and the indicators don't work, nor due the headlights and i wondered where to start and could the two probs be connected. The indicators flash with the alarm, so the bulbs work!. The passenger side head light pops up but the driversw side doesnt, neither light (up except on full beam). This is my 2nd wedge, with a 928 S4 and Alfa spider in between, theres nothing better! Many thanks

diode would be also my 1st idea. next would be earth.

what happens if you wind up the non working pod manually?

does the motor start to turn than (be carefull with your fingers)?

disconnect the motor and measure if it is supplied with power.

Hi
i picked the car up on Friday night, as it was starting to get dark i wound the pod up (lights off) - after a few turns it went up on its own - then came straight back down. I turned on the lights (which lifted the n/s pod) and wound up the o/s one again, this time it stayed up, although no lights. Thinking about it now, it did go down on its own when i turned the lights off.

The trick is turn lights on, then if only one pod comes up, pull out the headlight motor fuse, then wind up the other pod manually. You can then switch the lights on and off and / or access the wiring by removing the lens and work on them without either pod dropping down. If one is down and you wind it manually with fuse in it will go up and straight down again possible squashing your fingers in the process.

You probably only have a bad earth somewhere, try running a temp earth wire straight back to the battery.
