Just brought the 390SE home - great drive from Devon to Surrey, missed the rain so hood down all the way. What little hearing I had is all gone now

Anyway, to my stupid question - BTW, a 'bible' is on the 'to buy' list - just above the radio, smack bang in the centre of the panel is a concave black button surrounded by a black bezel. I pressed the button but nothing happened, so empirical testing failed ... what is it please?

Well, it didn't pop out - just seemed to slowly ease back to where it started, and it's not designed to pull out (not like a modern cigar lighter). It's not the electric wing-mirror joystick - that's to its right. It's more like an old-fashioned windscreen washer press button. However, there is no obvious cigar lighter. It has all the appearance of being original equipment.

Further investigation today. Glorious sunshine, but I have some plumbing to do in the (being rebuilt) kitchen.

Sounds like the fag lighter to me. Mine sticks in too - haven't had a chance to fix it yet.

Try yanking it and see what comes off in your hand!

Streaky - welcome. Ciggi lighter it is. On my 12 month old 350 back in 91 and also on my 400 it never worked.
