Anyone know what happened to it?

Just curious... had a trawl through previous threads but to no avail.. just wondered what ever happened to the 390 SE bodied FHC - believed to be yellow - seem to remember it was a one off specially made with the later rear lights/bumpers etc.

It was advertised about 18 months ago as in need of TLC. Sensible money too. A chap from Lichfield bought it to add to his collection of FHC's as he has a 280 and a 350. He bought a bonnet off me for his 350 and told me about the 390. I understand the factory had stopped making FHC's but a lady had a smash in hers and it was a write off so she blagged the factory into building this special - or so the story goes!!

That's the story I heard as well when I considered buying it in 96/97. Apparently the lady in question had driven TVRs for 20+ years but loathed convertibles. After she wrote off her 350 FHC, she offered PRW sufficient money such that he put brought out the FHC moulds and put that body on a 390 chassis. When I looked at it she was just about to take delivery of one of the first Cerberas and it was being sold on her behalf at WLA in Kent. However, they/she had it up for an extortionate amount (about £18K I seem to remember) and it was a total dog - possibly the worst wedge I'd ever driven. I hope it's better now. It was also a horrid colour - I like yellow on wedges but this wasn't the in-yer-face bright daytona yellow that you normally see but a somewhat more mellow promrose yellow!

There is a blue 390 FHC advertised on the TVRCC website - I wonder if it is the same one? The seller says it was a special order, 1989 vintage. Seems to be asking 450se money though.

I saw a lady in a yellow cerbie with purple leather - or it might have been the other way around, and she was dressed in purple leather catsuit with blonde hair. She was old enough to fit the story above - I wonder if that was the same woman?

Bleeeeeuuuurgh! Primrose yellow on a Wedge would look rather insipid. Bit like sick really. Maybe she had had a primrose yellow E Type earlier in her motoring career.

that is seriously scary, i live about 15 miles away from Lichfield, own a 280, 350 and a 390 FHC and bought a bonnet for my 350!! bit longer ago though and the 390 i bought isn't the same one although i did enquire about the yellow one off (it actually said one of one on the back of it at the time) around about 3/4 years ago.

never noticed that bit of information it probably was me then if tasmania lives in shropshire somewhere. The 390 is noticeably quicker than the 350 and this seems even more evident when accelerating from high speeds. No idea whether the car started life as a 350 or a 390 as the guy i bought it from was a dealer who was not interested in the car. its a 1985 car in grey with a previous owners private plate.

unfortunately due to being made redundant last year and splitting with long term g/f this year all 3 of my tvr's and both of my scimitars are off the road at present
