Funny old world

Funny how when you go to do one simple job, you discover something else that needs attention, or is it just a Wedge thing?
Decided to replace the rocker cover gaskets as the LH ones been pissing out for a while.
Anyway, off comes the plenum and lo and behold four trumpets lieing on their side on top of the base. Only two of the remainder were semi tight in their ports. These were removed with the application of heat via the oven.
Cleaned up everything and stuck the trumpets back in using a high temp epoxy resin and cooked in the oven for 40 mins at 130. Came out lovely. Bit of a stink in the kitchen though.
Got rid of the plenum heat doo dah while all this was happening.
Looks like the overrun valve had been put in the wrong way round by whoever last tinkered in that area, but I spoke to Tim, at ACT, and he told me to blank it off, as it wasn't nescessary, so that's tomorrows job.

May not be nescessary, but gives the car a nice noise on overrun, so I'd keep it.Mine just moaned on overrun since I did away with the AFM etc. It definitely looked like it was in backwards, so maybe that was it trying to tell me something.
Anyone got any diagrams of the correct instalation of the overrun valve? Mine had the spring inside the plenum. Can't see how that could work.

Deetes, that may be correct actually: the overrun valve allows some air into the plenum on overrun as other wise the engine would go horribly rich even on very little fuel when its running down from 5kRPM and the throttle plate is closed - I guess the valve plate is sucked inwards and compresses the spring on hard overrun...

Overrun valve was only needed on the flapper system and as mine's no longer a flapper system I'm gonna blank it off.
That's if I can get the dammed thing to run properly. Just converted to wasted spark(Megasquirt) and it doesn't want to play at all. It runs, just, but the coil drivers overheat and it misfires badly. Ford coil packs look to be the culprit at the mo, so I'm off to the breakers tomorrow, weather permitting, as it's snowing at the moment.
