Rear ride height?
Discussion
I checked the wedge bible, and the owners manual, but I can't find out what the rear ride height of my 280i FHC should be. I just paid £255 to have my 15" wheels refurbished, and the as new tyres re-fitted, and now there is evidence that the rear tyres have been rubbing on the body, and the car seems to bump-steer wildly from the rear end.

Each car has their own particular ride height. Bit likeDNA - unique to every car!
If you have adjustables, then raise the platform and/or stiffen the shocks, Could also be caused by saggy springs. The trailing arm suspension was reknowned for a bit of wheel wondering but this can be made worse by bush failures. Worth chceking them out just to make sure.
PS Also make sure that the rear hub nuts are not coming loose. That can also cause similar characteristics just before the part company with the car.

This could be a tyre problem. The original size was 205/60 on a 14" rim. You're now on 15". What tyre size are you using? 205/55/15 should be fine. A good guide for clearance is you should be able to put a 1" dia stick horizontally on top of the tyre and raise it up to 2". Or it could just be that you need new springs.
Ahhh, rear tyres are 215/60/VR15. I measured the ride height of the car to the bottom of the chassis tubes and got 175mm front and 180mm rear, which seems ok to me, since it is horizontal. I know the TVRCC racers are running 75mm, so I assume my car is the correct height. Checked the rear hub nuts - ok. but the vertical clearacne from the top of the tyre to the wheel arch, a-la slick method is about 20mm, much less than the front arches have.
