I know this is probably sacreligeous but ... has anyone experience of using a bike rack with a wedge? I have visions of driving into the countryside with the roof down, cycling for the day, driving back with the roof down. When it stops snowing, that is.

Sure did

Took 2 bikes mounted sideways on the boot down to LeMans and back

Had a luggage rack strapped to the boot with 2 cycle racks attached to the luggage rack

Worked a treat, piccies here

Not quite....

Mr Thorpe fabricated it for me many moons ago, back in the days of Wedge Automotive. It's purely for bike carrying duties though, nothing heavier than that. It's one of the compromises you have to come to when you want to race Triathlon and drive a Wedge.

No need for the picnic basket Rick, that's what the spoiler's for (and drying the wetsuit of course).

So that means there's at least 2 with towbars, yours and Steve Heaths (for towing trailor full of wheels and gearboxes smile )

Yep, but Steves is a 'proper' towbar. Mine's got electrics for a light board but it can all come off if needs be.

Rear suspension is a bit higher than normal to stop it grounding. God bless those adjustable shocks.

Not sure my method of strapping the rack around the boot would fit with a SEAC spoiler in the way, I'd go for the towbar option smile
