Well, i finally got all the stuff i needed to finish detailing the wedge! It looks ace, a few niggles here and there, but i only need to cut the laquer with a finer paste, then will be completely swirl free.

Here's some pic's. These are only after using the PC not after aother wash, polish and new Meguiars NXT 2.0 wax, which is seriously deep!

My favourite shot first, the 50/50 comparison of the 20 year old paint, then the 20 year old paint after some magic wink

Part way through smile

Now even more!

As you may have realised, i've take the stripes off, i find it gives it a more updated, rounder look, and doesn't draw your eye to the stripes, but to the paint finish more!

Hope you enjoy smile Thought some may lik to see our new aquisition, and show off some of my skills, which i'm hoping to turn into a businss very soon, well, when i finish school!

Yep! good old cheapo! the one everyone loves to hate, just cos they know it's as good as the more epxensive ones! Make sure you use decent pads with it! not those ones they give with it!

Yes - I bought a load of Fecala .. or something like that ...

Was thinking of using the pad they give away with it for buffing the wheels..

The meguairs soft & Hard pads are great for cutting nd finishing, along with meguiars bodyshop pastes.

Never thought about usuing thepads for wheels! good shout, they'll be coming off soon!

You hae only just seen the light & moved away from the curvy cars & you are trying to make your wedge more round....... You will be selling and looking for a Chimp soon !! wink

It is looking very nice up to your usual standards. I told you before you have the making of a good career in detailing.

We did my brothers Hillman Imp up years ago .. sunroof, painted it red.. and then stuffed a Ford 2 litre engine in the back with twin exhauts - one on each side.

That nutty car would pull wheelies as high as your knee from the lights hehe and sounded like a Kawasaki ..smile

That's a fantastic finish. You must be very pleased. I've been thinking of a polisher for some time. How about posting the details of yours and the special pads? I'm sure others would also be interested.

PMJI

If you want a polisher get the Meguiars G220 (UDM) which is (slighlty) better than the Porter machine and cheaper

wink Don't worry, i'm more than happy with the wedge, wouldn't dare go back to a chim'/Griff'!

Not upto my standards yet by a mile! still way too many defects for my liking!
Was thinking of turning it into a full-time business when i leave school, but i know nobody will trust a 16 Year old with their P&J.

The new Meguiars G220 Is good, but with mot wede paint of 20+ Years, will need a more rugged aproach instead of the oscilating movement of the G220.

The G220 Is more suited after you'e completed the paint work and wants to maintain the swirl free finish, Examples like the Makitas and Ported Cables take a lot more care (Can cause alot of damage in wrong hands) I used a cheaper version of the two above, it's off ebay for around 30-40 quid, pretty much the same as the abve two, just as long as you arent using the pads supplied, they're ste. I used a Meguiars Soft buff pad with Meguiars #85 paste (Deep cut!) But i'm going to go over again with Meguiars #82 Paste (Swirl free). As for applying polish and wax, you simply can't beat hand polishing, l just as effective and brilliant, and you have the extra 'wow factor' When you ca look and say to yourself it's done by hnd ( You have to be sad like me to look at it like this wink )

If anyone needs any help, feel free to ask away and i'll try to help as much as i can.

Haha, this one's been stood for 20 years, only took a new coil, unblock the fuel line, and a fresh tank of petrol, and she's a dream! And with a Ducati Monster exhaust and 3 foot flames, i wont be getting bored! wink

Doubt the 875 will pull wheelies, but i'll no doubt have plenty of fun :haha:

Think i'm respraying it in its original purple smile
