Anyone know which color wires go to which terminals on the VDO oil pressure gauge? There's a positive, a ground, and a signal connection; and, of course, the two small connectors for the lamp. Black = ground? Green = signal? White = positive? Yeah, I shoulda taken notes (gee, I thought I did).

Thanks.

What's the harm with "suck-it-and-see"? It shouldn't do any to gauge or sender ... at least if you just touch the wire to the terminals with the engine running - Streaky

Steven -

I will dig out some pictures I have taken of the back of the panel and email them to you.

Thanks for the replies. I've looked at wiring diagrams, but they don't seem to show everything needed. Suck-it-and-see is an approach... Looking at wiring color code information, it looks like the white/brown is the signal lead, the black is ground, and the green is switched power/+12V/+. This seems to be it. The gauge illumination lamp leads are different colored (red and red/white), but can go on either way.

Yeah, that's it:

Black = Ground
Green = Switched +12V
White/Brown = signal from the oil pressure sender

Martin, if you've got them handy, I'd still appreciate any pictures you have of the back of the instrument panel.

Cheers.

Hi Steven

No problem with sending the photos, but I cant attach photos to a mail through Pistonheads mail system, if you send a mail back I can then send them directly to you.
