Neighbour + Porker
Discussion

He's just sold/swapped his Boxster for a 911 Carrera 4....993 is it, 996? Got me........
Anyhoo...he was pawning all over it last night. Then he started it!
Followed by whoops of "listen to that".......indeed...err, didn't quite know what to say?
So i said "ticks over nice" don't think it was quite the reaction he was after..

So this morning i brought the 400 into work, as i reversed past his Porker...it set his alarm off.

Now THAT'S a noise.

Ps: My p/s makes a whiny noise (no..i don't keep the wife under the bonnet), fluid level looks fine.
Early signs of pump wear?
cheers.
All the time, or just full lock ?
Oh, and Porkers...lovely cars, but just sooooo common (and 'look at me and my flash car') and usually owned by a finance company...
which reminds me of the time a few years ago when a work colleague had for ages been boring us to death extolling the virtues of his Porsche Carrera, compared to our 'lesser' cars.
A couple of weeks later I was visiting my uncle, who was a court Bailiff.
He described how he'd just 'taken back' a Porsche right off a guy's driveway the previous morning, because no payments had been made.
...YES.

If not used much the bearing can wear and get whiny. it will still work fine. but can be enoying. happend to me. did not have time at the time to try and get it fixed. so I fitted a new one. about £150.
I've still got the old one. plan was to get the bearing changed one day, so I have a spare incase it goes again.

Wonder wether its possible to put a very noisy system on a boxster , that way you would have exellent handling and something to listen too ; have been in a 993 type 911 at a pistonheads meet that had a very wicked system on and it actually sounded like a v8 , no kidding , 993's are probably the best 911's ever made too !

I know someone that has a Tubi on a boxster and they dont change much.Ive heard that there isnt much you can do with the pipework..dont know how true it is!
There were some great sounding Porkers.
Back in '89 my best mate had one of these in Guards Red...the rare slantnose 930 turbo.
He had the larger intercooler fitted along with other engine mods, quad outlet 'sport' exhausts, and BBS alloys.
I had the honour of being regularly given a ride to the pub in it, and the sound was distinctly V8ish. The car was hugely fast, and as an ex F5000 and Formula 2 driver he knew how to handle the beast .
I'd love one.

Aways on my wish list , was always put off slightly by the ' holes in hedges ' stories though !

Dont let the stories put you off fella. Burriana on PH had a Porsche 911 a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it. He even tried to kick the arse out and get it all lairy and sideways and it was apparently unflappable
Ive developed a bit of a liking for Porsches over the years and older 911s would be the weapon of choice...the latest one just looks too bland unless its the RS
