One of the headlights has decided it doesnt want to lift to its full height anymore. I have had the motor out and the linkage and all seems perfect. If I adjust the rod it wont go down flush its sitting about an inch lower than the other one. Ive tried swapping the motors over too without succcess.
any suggestions?

When you say you have swapped the motors over do you mean the same problen transfers to the other side with it?
First I would check and clean all the connectors on both sides at the pods. Check the earth connection at the front nearside suspension leg (near the PAS dipstick)On the faulty motor take off the access plate on the motor and carefully clean the underside of the copper buzz bar and make sure the the rising plastic buttons are making and breaking the electrical contacts. Make sure that both diodes in the motor are good (quick check of continuity one side and open circuit the other way) Finally make sure that the Diode or diodes at the fuze box are good connections likewise that the 2 relays are seated properly and clean (check the back of each relay to make sure that the connectors are on properly. It's nearly always something simple - Good luck

The motor only goes in one direction, so if it is 'stopping short' on the limit switches then on the down stroke it will initially go up the missing inch. You usually see a 'twitch up' and then down.
In both up and down positions the pod sits against rubber stops/pads which are adjustable - worth checking. Maybe adjust link for correct upper position and rubber pad to stop pod 'level' in down position.
The pads are importand as they take out 90% of the vibration with the lights on.
Are you sure it isn't the other side that is going too high if the pad has gone / needs adjusting.
With the motor / arm disconnected does the pod move easily full stroke and is there any undue play in pivot bushes or bolts etc.

Thanks for the suggestions.the "Good light" dips down slightly when I switch on and comes up to full height against the stop, the "problem one" goes straight up but not to the stop If I adjust the rod to the right height when up the pod will not return flush as the arm appears too long. The pod is free when disconnected and both pivots secure.
