I think that sounds like a good price - always that it was around £500 for a complete hood recover down south.

Hi guys,

I have read for a while that the best place in Essex to have the Wedge targa and mullet recovered is Hoods Galore - I thought I read on here that someone had theirs done in 2 hours and for £ 150.

Mine is going to take all day and £ 550, the mullet will be covered inside in black and they are making a bag for the middle section to fit into when stowed.

Does this seem ok to all you guys that have been through this ?

Any feedback would be good. Thanks.
Just out of interest where in Essex as you.

I found mine hit on the passenger side where the headers join to the main system.

All you need to do is to reset the joint ..

take it apart - new sealent, adjust the pipes (lever) and fittings so it does not touch chassis..

It can be done easily biggrin

Quite often it's just which way up those clamps are, if you swivel them round, you can avoid the knocking.

Incidentally if you (or anyone else) would like a brand new TVR factory mullet section, in black, get in touch.

Cheers Rev and Leigh,

They are re-doing the inside black and lining it for me plus making the cover for the when the middle is stowed. Should look the nutz when finished. The inside has been done.

The only problem I have is my exhaust sometimes knocks on the chassis when idling. There is not much room under there to sperate them so I guess some sort of jubilee clip to lash the pipe to the chassis maybe with a rubber buffer might work ?

Emailed ya Leigh. Hows the race car coming along ?
Douh forgot who you was when posted.

Race car is comming along fine, just a lot slower than expected. still going to be about 4 - 6 weeks.

latest progress up on the Dunlop section.

As a guy with not much hair to his credit - can someone enlighten me as why the Wedge is associated with a Mullet? Even when I had hair I always thought it looked stupid....

The term mullet was applied to TVR's that have the rear section of the roof up.. especially when it's sunny and the roof should be down.

Chimaeras are the worst offenders biggrin

Take a look at this to see what's involved.

http://www.tvrsseries.com/

About half way down the menu on the left under 'Rear roof removal' - different TVR but same st.

Whilst you are at it you may want to think of changing the black metal roof struts to Grief or Chimp ones (about the only good thing on them!), they give a much more positive lock and don't tend to tighten and then go slack on full lock as the black ones do which can cause wrinkles in the rear window panel.

You will probably have to change the bolts holding the rear roof hoop on as well as the old ones will probably be knackered, mine were and I had them changed to stainless ones.

Also the roof will shirnk a little so it might also be an idea to have them add a little extra material on the flaps directly behind the drivers and passengers windows to ensure that the material dosen't shirnk back too far on the velcro bits.
