Mine was not that bad, but couldn't adjust the idle revs a bit upwards, what ever I did. Advice on here was to take the CO-adjuster completely out (at the airflowmeter), clean it as crud seems to be able to collect here. After cleaning I was able to adjust idle as I liked, as well as the CO!
It is easy to do without risks and if it is not fixed it must be something else ;-)

Electrical connection problems and air leaks are the most common causes of flapper efi system faults.
You appear to have a connection problem with the temp sensor or possibly a faulty sensor.
Are you able to adjust idle speed when it goes high? If yes, then the idle speed should be set to approx 800 rpm which will probably leave you with a non starting engine which can then be addressed by diagnosis.
If no, then there must be an overriding air leak preventing adjustment or a blocked idle gallery. If thats the case the rest of the plenum chamber is probably contaminated with crud so in dire need of a clean.

Read about the temp sensor and plenum chamber for comprehensive explanation and test processes. Do the tests.
If that does not reveal a solution, check out the electrical connection/wiring article elsewhere on the site. The efi wiring loom is notoriously unreliable and the article will help you trace faults. In addition pay particular attention to the Efi Engine earths behind and below the LH rocker cover.
If after trying the above suggestions you still have probs you are into a full system diagnosis and the remaining articles on the site will give you more help.
