alloy wheels

my old wheels on my 350i are looking very poor and i have considered replacing them with a more upto date alloy ( not everyone will think thats the right thing to do ) the issue is that no one can advise me what wheels will fit on the hub or clear the arch or have the right offset. has any one changed them on their car, or got any ideas who may be able to help.? help on this would be much appreciated

i put 17 inch on my 350 with 10 mm spacers and i am putting 17 x8 on my 400 got the first set from rochford wheels and tyres there merc stud pattern
