Clutch cable 1981/2 280i conv.
Discussion
Bought it 15 months ago whenI sold my faithful old TR3A(20 years of it)Wedges are unbelievable value (wish I'd twigged that the V8's are even better value than the V6...)It really is like a modern TR -more comfort,quick,noisy,spins...!I digress. We did 1700 miles round Scotland earlier this year no problems (in fact no probs in the 5000 miles since I got it)
UNTIL day ater I got home (Great timing!!) the clutch cable lets go.WHAT IS IT FROM !I was reduced to paying full price from a
dealer who had removed the QH sticker(no fool he).It dosent seem to be V6 Cortina/Capri/Granny I'd like a spare for next time, any ideas??
I run on Optimax with Castrol valvemaster-plus seems to like it & valves holding up so far.

Did your cable snap at the pedal end. My old 280 did a couple of times and I soldered a loop of wire on the end of the broken cable, it worked fine as a get me home spare after the 2nd cable went.
It appeared that the angle it was attached to the pedal caused it to flex causing the failure - I thought about making a small modification to the pedal to make it all line up better.
However I ended up selling the car before I got around to it, but I did hear that the next owner had it converted to a hydraulic system by Towerview.
