Power steering fluid?

I'm just fitting a new power steering hose to my '84 350i. Does anyone know what fluid i'm supposed to use. My dad is a mechanic and says he thinks it might be auto trasmission fluid? I have the wedge bible and it doesn't seem to be listed.
Anyone have any ideas?

If you don't get any replies as I've looked through the book as well is to go on the to Wedge Workshop Manual forum and e-mail shpub as that is Steve himself and if anyone can answer your question he can.

I put ATF in my Chimaera -- as long as it's red it seems to work no matter what the brand.

I yhink Manak is right but if you just use the reference books at Halfords etc and look for
Rover V8 or Range Rover V8 - it tell you what
you need..

ATF and power steering fluid are one and the same available from just about everywhere , even Sainsburys.

I have Mercedes Power Steering fluid left over from last car. I need to top off fluid in my AM V8V. Is this fluid OK?
