Hi all,

I have been on PH for a while now, but only as a BMW driverwink.

Well I'v taken the plunge and brought a TVR, well some of one........

It is a 1985 350 in a rather nice Subaru Blue, it is a bit tatty here and there, but generally it is solid

and has a fair bit of work done on the chassis (all documented). A nice project.

There is a small problem though, should there not be an engine of some desciption under the bonnet?

Oh yeah and it won't start.

Any ideas?

;)

Damn, that means I'm going to have to buy a towbar!

And a trailer.

Thats the one!

Rather surprised I won it TBH, I never win anything! smile

On the hunt for a cheap 3.5/3.9 engine for the moment, just to get it moving!

A better engine will follow once I have saved enough.

Might be worth a bid or two.

Also on the subject of RV8s, I have been told that there is a difference between automatic and manual engines, something to do with crankshafts.
Is this right or am being fed B.S?

There'll likely be at least a different spigot bush on the gearbox end of the crank, for the different boxes, but can't see why the cranks themselves would be different. scratchchin

Not a major problem to change , incidentally (the bush), though I've only done it on Fords.

If you want manual box, then make sure the engine has a flywheel with it.

If going for auto, attach the torque converter to GEARBOX first before fitting gearbox to engine, as it's a swine to do the other way round (too many rotating parts to line up through a 5mm gap.) irked

Aaah...nightmares I have known...

Ah, yes that is what I thought, it makes more sense from a production point of view.

Don't forget any Rover V8 you stick in will need a remote oil housing adaptor on it as the original placing of the filter will foul chassis or steering.

So hopefully they left at least the parts still attached to the wing, with pipes dangling to where the engine would sit ?

The spray job isn't the best but it will come up nicely with a mop I reckon.

A bit tatty inside, but all 'fixable'

A rather empty engine bay!

If you look closely you can see the orginal colourwink
