400SE brake pads ?
Discussion
I've used Ferodo pads for years in my 400. Originally DS2000, then a stint with DS3000 (competition pads, incredible stopping ability, but chews the rotors to hell)and finally and currently DS2500. The fitment is FCP832, with a letter suffix dependent on the grade ("H" is the DS2500). Very pleased with the latter, given that this is a road-based car with occasional track days. Don't squeal either, unlike some pads.

I don't actually like them .. they make a lot of dust and if you have highly polished OZ wheels it is not good at all.
I use Green stuff instead - whick work just as well but produce much less dust.
Now you've got me thinking Rev...I seem to remember Brummiewedge saying that's what he'd fitted, and there IS very little dust with them. I use Green stuff instead - whick work just as well but produce much less dust.

Anyway, I'd better get off my backside and go and have a look !

The veneer his mate put on the dash is also trying to detach itself now (yesterday's heat), so that's another job.
I'm going to look at carbon fibre and other alternatives.
You'll always get different opinions but.....I've had Mintex, Ferodo, Green Stuff, Tarox and Red Dot on mine. As far as I can remember, it's still Mintex at the back but definately Red Dot on the front. The EBC pads have to be the worst I've used (although they do seem to last forever - which is more than can be said for the discs that are in contact with them
). Tarox were excellent on the original Princess calipers except being very dusty. Unfortunately, they don't make them to fit the Hi-Spec calipers.
Very happy with the Red Dots. No fade at all, good from cold and pretty long lasting. Still quite a bit of dust though.

Hmmm....seems to be plenty of meat left on the pads, so probably the slight noise was from a bit of dust build-up. The discs are really nice and smooth.
Took a few pics in case anyone can tell me what these calipers and discs are likely to be.
The difference in colours is because on 2 of the pics I had a light shining on them.
