Please, what are the opinions on the most appropriate wheels and tyres for a 450SE?

As seen, mine was pimped by the previous owner with Posrsche Brakes and 18" Oxigen alloys with low profile tyres. I am concerned whether standard wheels will still fit.

I know that the ride of a "standard" car is still firm, but I guess mine is even firmer.

Thank you

Evening Henry,
Called in the Forresters to show the missus where I disappear off to on a sunday and saw your wedge there! My favourite wheels are the original OZ 5 spokes - I guess 16's would look good on your car...

I like your car as it is, standard ones wont suit it, unless you get the centre in the same colour as the car, then it'll look good with chrome surround, i think smile

Like a lot of fellow Wedgers, I have seen the car in the flesh.

Every modification was fine for me except the wheels, which I think look ghastly....sorry.

OZs will look (and are) as classy as anything else you'll find, and are right for the car.

I'm sure the ride will be much improved too. smile

Henry - I think you are right ... the wheels look too modern for a Wedge..

The 16 inch OZ wheels look great - must admit in the early nintys - I thought they looked too fussy but have grown rather fond of them. They might be too small for your brakes as you say and only rarely come up for sale.

There is an alternative - IMAGE wheels ..

Jeff Stratham has these on his works SEAC racer .. and they look superb.

See Billet 50 :

Also Darren (Badredwedge) or what ever name he is using today bought some very nice alternative wheels that looked line the Revolutions of the 1980's .. I think it's design IFX :

Henry,
The "standard" OZ wheels that you will see on the 400se's are also available in 16". They are quite rare but do come up now and again. I can'r say for certain they will fit over your Porsche brakes but if you can find someone with them fitted, it might be worth seeing if they fit and if they do, perhaps buying a set? If you need a set, drop me a PM as I know of a set for sale smile

If not, you could get some other brakes on the front of the wedge that would allow different wheel fitment?

Well I have 303 mm disc's and AP500 4 pot calipers on the race car, and the 16" Tuscan race wheel's fit.

If you want to pop over to me, you can try a pair on your car see if they fit before you try and find some.
