http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/656992.htm Is this the Sensible alternative to the seac , around the same price , fantastic handling , electronic aids , wife would be able to drive ? , mpg improvement , everyday car , ok its common as sh*t but then all sensible fun cars are ! Ok it don't sound very nice , sports exhaust may help a bit ! Apologies in advance for this but ... a mad thought ?

Blaine , you are right ! The reason I looked at these cars is that a neighbour who did have a 911 and sold it ( not sure why ) did start looking at Tvr's , wanted a newer one , I warned him about the engines , so he is now looking at 3.2 boxters with the special gearbox ie quick change type , hope he gets one then I can have a run out in it , never been in a boxster , they are supposed to be very good handling cars . he wants it for every day use ie work .

Graham , you are right , the thing is you can drive a boxster any time and not care a damn as its not a car I can imagine caring about in the way wedges are .

They seem to be nearly as common as Mondeos now.

However competent, they are never going to match the Wedge experience and exclusivity. yes

To be fair you ought to warn him about the Boxster engines since they seem to blow up more than S6s when outside warranty.

After having a ride in a certain SEAC at BBWF I have to say it has presence. More than my 400. That would be the presence Mt St Helens had just before she blew.

Never having owned a boxter I cannot comment. But they don't tickle that ancient gland that is finely tuned to the leery V8 on diamond white looking to cause trouble in the pub on bingo night.

I thought it was well known that you ONLY get a Boxster if you DON'T want a REAL sports car? (Or can't afford a 911?....lol)

I personally would not like to own/drive a Porker of any description. (Wonderful Engineering but lack of passion IMHO)

Give me something "classic" and British any day over a "eurobox" in drag.

Again Just my 10p worth.

I agree about the proper Brit sports cars , I think the thing is that when I see someone driving back from work in the pouring rain or icy slimy conditions in their nice handling boxster 3.2 albeit with the roof always on ( mine would be off ) I get very jealous as I wouldn't be driving my evil wedge in such conditions or the '7' for that matter , on a dry day its a different matter .

I like a Wedge in the rain. Water gets on the zorsts sat at the lights and it starts to steam....... evil You can see people trying to sit further away in their cars.

Theres nothing dangerous about driving any Wedge in the rain except the idiot holding the wheel - its as safe as YOUR driving capability IMO
