Hey there...I need a few bits and bobs for my 'mighty' 4 cylinder Tasmin , was wondering if you fellas could help.

The light switch is dodgy , they pop up but the rears don't always come on. Where could I source a replacement?

Wing mirrors , despite the car having an MOT it does not actually have any mirrors. What were the orginals from? Even the later mirrors would do as they look better than the earlier ones I think.

The rear screen is 'cloudy'. Any thoughts on fixing this or is a replacement softtop awfully expensive?

Thanks guys. Will post a pic asap , even of it's (shudder) single exhaust pipe so you can have a giggle.

If you have a soft top the rear screen can be cleaned using a fine metal polish and this will usually take most of the cloudyness away. test a small area first.

Hi fellow 200 owner.....there aren't many of us around. All the questions below are not 200 specific they are the same on the 280.

The light switch is dodgy , they pop up but the rears don't always come on. Where could I source a replacement?

Have you tried cleaning the contacts??? Many will tell you that the switches are off a TR7 but the early switches are not quite the same and after 20 years of ownership I still haven't found exactly what car they are from. Try TVR Car Parts as they bought up all the Wedge stock of parts. Douglas Valley Breakers may also be able to help.

Wing mirrors , despite the car having an MOT it does not actually have any mirrors. What were the orginals from? Even the later mirrors would do as they look better than the earlier ones I think.

Standard wing mirrors on the 200 I think were just roundish manual types. It's possible to fit the later 'pod type', as I have done. If you want more info let me know. You may struggle sourcing the 280 type mirrors mounted on the doors, again Douglas Valley may be able to help.

The rear screen is 'cloudy'. Any thoughts on fixing this or is a replacement softtop awfully expensive?

A replacement soft top will cost you around £500. It's possible to have just the screen replaced....not sure of the price. It may be possible to clean it up and I think there are products available to do this.

Yes he sold his Tasmin in fact to me, I have started to do a few upgrades first thing was to get rid of the pinto, It did go fairly well but very thirsty and had I to rev it hard, so that gone and I am in the process of fitting a vauxhall red top, with a modified bellhousing to hook it up to the ford type 9 box. A power steering rack from a granada is also bolted in.
Does anyone else have a modified tasmin with this engine be interested as to what sort of performance to expect Thanks

The Wedge is not a light car as fibergless cars go (around 1200kg IIRC), so your performance isn't going to be anything like the 7. I fitted a Cosworth to my 200 and in standard form it pushed out 230BHP, have to say it was much faster than the standard 200, but I have no figures.
You say you have fitted a Granada P/S rack. The standard racks are Cortina based. Are the Granada and Cortina the same width?

I'm pretty sure that where the rack used was the Cortina one, it was bod... er, modified by TVR/ some monkeys to have a wider track. It is fair to presume that they used Granada track control rods. But they could also be from something else with the appropriate thread for Cortina track rod ends. Almost certainly not specials for the Tasmin.

Err, don't think so. Rack is off the shelf Cortina....

Yes the granada rack is wider so I have cut down, prepped and welded the arms ( about 20mm out of each) to get it to fit power wise I am hoping the engine will have about the same performance as the colonge 2.8 but with better fuel consumption.

That surprises me, I'd have sworn the Tas was wider than a Cortina. Apologies all round for any misinformation.
