It doesn't! If you want a new one you can try speedy cables, but a lot of people just put a bike brake inner up the middle and a terminal block at the engine end, or similar, and it works fine.

That's a good point, my handbrake cable has also snapped (hasn't benefited from the 'terminal block' bodge though) and the MOT is due last week.

This must be a borrowed part! yes?

Not sure.

If I was less idle these days and had done the brakes myself, might have cost a couple of hundred quid less. frown (New discs and brake/handbrake pads).

This is how my thread ended for my post in March regarding a similar problem:

Unfortunately for my wallet, I had to order a replacement cable to guarantee delivery so it could be fixed for Chatsworth. I dealt with a very helpful chap called Keith at Clever Trevor TVR specialist who supplied an inner cable for £12.80 + VAT + p&p for a Griff. Even though he hadn't got all my card details he still sent the item special delivery to make sure I got it in time. The pedal end was fitted with a ferrule and roller allen key clamp, not the original ball for a Tasmin. I managed to get it to fit by drilling the hole in the pedal slot 5.5mm on the engine side and 6.5mm on the other side. The ferrule was a perfect fit, held in place by the original clip and everything lined up nicely, although the cable is resting on the ferrule. There is an excess cable of about 30cm (the original is 100cm hole to ball)but I just coiled this. I've kept the allen key in the car so if it snaps again I can easily bodge it to get home. On reflection, it would probably have been easier to have done away with the ferrule and used the roller action of the clamp, although I would have had to close off the slot somehow (cable tie or thread on a nut perhaps).

I would advise everybody to have a spare cable and a cable tie because the originals are all going to snap eventually (mine snapped at the ball)and you can do a temp repair in mins.

Many thanks for all the advice and especially to Clever Trevor.

Regards

Mark
