280i idle problems

Hi folks, my mate has just bought a 280i and its not idling any ideas where to start. Its just beeen serviced so plugs etc are new however prior it had been stood for a year or so. any advice appreciated

Well it can be lots of stuff but I would pull off the air cleaner put hand inside and make sure the control thing is lifting and not sticking.
Clean Aux Air device.
Change fuel filter if it's been sitting. Cheaper than a fuel dist CIS likes clean fuel.

Also check that a PO has not adj. the main butterfly and is sticking.
Idle screw is underneath BTW.

Warm-up regulator can cause all sorts of maladies, usually made worse by people fiddling with other things to fix it.
Find a Granada mk2 Haynes book, that should tell you how to set it up properly

On my old car there were some cracks in the rubber elbow in the inlet system. It ran fine when setting up the idle speed. However when the bonnet was closed it compressed, opening up the cracks.

Some sealant cured it.
