Lights on, pull battery or fuse (relay??). I pull the battery. My radio auto times off the RDS and nothing else apart from the clock is affected on mine.

No leccy to pull them back down then.

Ok, so lights raised and ready, but of course all the small screws on the grotty metal plate on the front of the light are seized, so being soaked in WD40 at the mo.

The bolt heads are free, so I was wondering if I can drop the light out of the back of the housing by taking out the bolts at the front, or do the screws need to come out ? (save freeing them off)
Can you just pull the bulb out of the back...can't see how it's fixed there.
I just want to check/replace the bulb and connections really.
Do I need to replace the whole headlight unit, and if so, what car is it off ?

Cheers.

I should have taken pics of mine.

My bulb is held in the light (glass bit) by a clip. Nice and simple that. BUT the light (glass bit) was encased in a sandwich of back and front affair that held a rubber boot over the bulb, the connector only showing. That had to be dismantled first. Best getting some new 4mm (I think) nut and bolts and some rust eater. I took the loose stuff off, coated with the denitrol and painted black. Give it a few more years.

Are you sure its the bulb?

Thanks Jeff.

It's just the dip beam not working...full ok.
Light is Cibie, with spare (bulbless) parking light socket.

Tomorrow I'll jack the car up a bit so I can see what's going on with the wiring under there, check earths, etc.

Mine just seems to have a connection block sticking straight out the back of the light unit...no rubber boot. Probably lost along the way. Can't feel any clips.

Problem is, as soon as the sun comes out now, you just want to forget fiddling, and get in and drive ! driving

If there is no rubber bung then you may be able to get at the clip holding it in from the rear scratchchin

Need some long nose pliers. But I would certainly make sure no leccy is connected with your hand up the back of the light. Just in case.

Shirley someone else must have done this either way?

Thinking about the bulb and clip. If you have a spare bulb handy for a look see then the disc that the prongs poke out of that the connector goes on is the bit that has the clip holding it in. Bit like a circlip, press the raised ends together and lift out. Hinged I think?
