I am also investigating an engine swap with a 4.0 Cologne (Explorer)motor but would prefer a 5 litre V8.
Any photos or info that you have on the 351 installation would be very greatly appreciated. I had heard of a couple of 302 swaps but I have not been able to track them down.
My main concern is the width at the rear of the heads. I do not want to move the motor too far forward to make it fit.
Thanks

Pete,
I did some measuring to fit the 4.0 SOHC Cologne (Explorer) unit when I thought the truck was to be written off. Due to the wide/tall SOHC heads it's VV tight (could be done with some cutting) but the weight was the final put off for me as it's cast iron blocked and with the big harness, induction and heads ends up above the RV8 - I'd be interestd to hear how you get on. I also have access to a Eurocar race V8 (351 with an alley block and 400+gg's) but it's gonna cost me £6.5k - ouch!
Logbook - how quickly do you want one? I have not decided which way to jump with the body for the rally car but one direction means I'll break another car thus have loadsa bits with a log book for sale.
e mail me.

Reading this back it sounds dodgy but I'm a Wedge and V8 nut so have loadsa stuff, etc - so it's pucka.

I think using a 302 is a good idea, the 351 i have used is a big motor.
The 302 being 4" bore 3"stroke is a very compact motor,in fact it's smaller than a Rover v8 and with that over square bore they rev like no other V8.
With my car i moddied the chassis rails but like i say the 351 is a big motor. The gear box is Fords 4 speed top loader, tuff as they come would be nice to have 5 gears but i run a 2:88 axle ratio.Pic's to follow soon,if any one wants ro see the car get in touch Tim
