Fuel gauge sender
Discussion
Before you read further, I haven't had this problem myself (yet?).
Think I read you can easily rewire them.
Removal and putting it back could be daunting with the tank in place.
Sorry, don't know what the original was/is. Probably many are possible, but the outside diameter and resistance rating needs to be matched to the wedge tank and gauge.

Hi Rev, unique as in size/shape or in resistance values?
Gandalf has some universal boat ones, may have to find out if one will fit!
Not sure - never heard of anyone finding a suitable replacement.Gandalf has some universal boat ones, may have to find out if one will fit!
The apature they fill - well they all seem to come in loads of different sizes.
I had heard of a Griff sender being used but the last I heard was that they were not available either but the situation may be different now.
Let us know if you manage to find a replacement.
Sender is almost guaranteed to be from some old British rustheap of the 70s. It may have been altered to suit the Wedge fuel tank but ultimately it's a rheostat operated by a float on the end of a bit of stiff wire.
As it's mounted in the inboard side wall of the tank it's likely (but not certain, as the float arm could be bent/ extended) that the donor had the same arrangement.
Anything from a Mini to a Landrover, by way of Sherpa and TR7
Given the notorious inaccuracies of TVR instruments I wouldn't bet there was much 'matching' going on either.
Dig your old Haynes books out and check the chapter on fuel systems, you never know!

P.S How's the Beastie SEAC coming along?
Slowly - I'm looking for something I've lost a little of..
.... Keep going with it Alan, we're all looking forward to seeing/hearing your SEAC.

Still - I'm always more happy working on cars in the winter.
Just got an alternator bracket and Thermostat housing that solves most of my problems from John Eales.. so that's good.
