Thinking about renewing the hood. Any thoughts on where to go in the southeast/London and rough costs?
thanks Bob

Autohoods do replacements for £390 - £750 fitted. A decent trimmer can stitch and fit for a lot less. I'll give you a number if you email me.

Bob -

I know you said South East, but you might like to try The Don Trimming Company based in Birmingham. They have standard fittings available in a variety of materials to your choice.

They can probably look after you by mail order.

I believe thay have a branch in Bournemouth.

Was there a hood company based in Hastings or sowehere like that? The Car Hood Company? Or have they gone bust now?

Just found these people based in Chessington - not far from you

There are a few others if you Google away at it!

Thats assuming that you're Wedge is 'standard'! I would rather have the guy measure the car and make the hood to the measurements. You notice the difference especially around the area immediately behind the door windows (the bit with the velcro on). When they don't fit properly they look awful and let the water in.

And you have to fettle with the rear mullet bit to get the right amount of stretch across the rear screen which is fiddly especially with the black roof stays, which are crap. Better to change these over to Grief ones whilst doing the job. (The only bit of the Grief I actually like).

Yes - I agree Mike. Good point to make. I think it is best too to take your car along.

I'll be taking my car to a chap in the Ipswich area who hand makes such items to measure; but that's probably too far for Bob.
