Since dropping my rad at the weekend the 350i temp gauge is running 10 degrees higher than before. Also the fans appear to be cutting in 10 degrees higher.
I don't think the car is actually running hotter as the oil pressure at idle is still the same.
Is it possible I have an air lock or could it just be a coincedence?

check the otter switch hasn't been dislodged?? when I changed my switch I found it wasn't held in the radiator properly.
no idea why the car should be running 10 degrees higher generally though.

My otter switch isn't in the rad, but on the metal swan neck. I think it is working ok as the fans cut at what appears to be a higher temperature - but it could be just the gauge is now reading wrong.

I bet you regret that post a few days ago "my car always stays at 80"
It's probably the gauge or sender, to much of a coincidence otherwise. Unless you have some air trapped around the sender or otter, that would do it.

When I replaced my rad the fan came on by itself even when cold! Haven't worked out why but it must be the otter switch.
