Looks clean but dont recognise the bonnet air intake.
Any ideas?

Judging by its looks, it's a Series 1. What's bafling though is the year. Series 1's went out in '85 and yet its marked up as an E plate which is '87,

350's were well into Series 2 mode by then! Hmmm!

If it's a series 2 it won't have trailing arm suspension, but that bonnet looks like a 280i bonnet to me, and it's had a new chassis. Mmmm.....

Which makes it the opposite of mine (mines a 280i with a UK 350 front cap) But it comes equipped with a bible!

Looks to me like 2 accident damaged cars made into one. The bonnet and rear panel are early Tasmin, yet the rear valance, front spoiler, mirrors etc are early Mk 2 350.
The paintwork looks poor, the door panel looks like an early tasmin handle, and a later door pull.

I wouldn't touch this one with a barge pole.

We ought to be a tad careful as this chap may have a good story when spoken too. He sais it's got wishbone suspension on a new chassis (or something like that). This may mean he's dropped a series one body onto a series 2 chassis and kept the series 2 registration. It may be all in very good nick. However there are a few genuine series 2's out there for less than £4k - mind they may not be as tidy as this chaps car looks in the photo's. Lets give him the benefit of doubt as he is a Wedge owner (currently)

Good point Tasmania, also remember there are a few od factory cars around like the 390 coupe, G reg but with an early Tasmin body and that was a genuine factory car.
Some questions need answering though.

Aha... that one in Newbury looks a lot like my mate Ste's car. His is an '86 in very dark green. Note that all the panel joins have disappeared! On Ste's car the bonnet has a load of lateral vents (several each side) that the Newbury car doesn't. Same dash and general 'US'-spec appearance.
