Is there a Standard Wedge Spec??
Discussion
I've just got an original copy of the SEAC Masterpice article in the Supercar series. It does say that the SEAC's were special order and it talks about full honeycomb Kevlar bodies - etc. However, the nice cutaway picture by Gavin Owen shows essentially a standard 400/450 chassis (Rectangular outriggers and standard front suspension) as well as the curved 400/450 dash. Question. As the SEAC was a special order could an owner ask for a 450 but with a SEAC body?
Also there is a red car in the article which has the handbrake between the drivers seat and the centre console. Mines the pull type under the dash plus the car is part Kevlar! i.e. nose cone is Kevlar but can't see any anywhere else.
Was there such thing as a "standard Spec"? and do we know/does anyone know how many and in what way they deviated from standard?
Nacnud - if your out there is the No.42 Masterpiece article the one you bought from Steve?

No.42 - Aye
Mine dash the five dial (as opposed to four dial)later dash with the 'proper' handbrake.
My bonnet release is in the passenger footwell though I think I've seen some on the drivers side.
Saw an SE with very similar dash to mine, but the two heater controls were reversed!
Standard - no chance

I've still got the original bill of sale with mine..
42K in 1989 .. yes it sure was special for that price !
Can't see much kevlar on mine - I think the owner conplained about the paint finish... they probably
rebodied it in fiberglass !
I've got that stupid excuse for a handbrake - under the dash.. 4 dials .. air con.. hot wire air flow ..

The Early cars 86-87 were built on a separate production line (or shed) they had kevlar bodies, apparently they were making a loss on every car so they simplified production by building along side other models using mainly grp although still using kevlar and carbon in a few places, i think 2 or 3 SEACs had the SE style dash, but don't know why, certainly the SEAC body had a totally different mould.
as for suspension, they all had a large rose joint on the front suspension as standard, further upgrades were optional, i think the first 2 had regular wedge front bush rather than rose joint.
The words standard and SEAC don't really go together.

Thought as much - chears chaps. Steve the one car in the article looks a bit like yours but it on an earlier reg than a 450 - did the factory do a 420 and 450 demo in the same colours? The blue one looks like Nacnuds. Is this the same article that Nacnud has got or is there more!
GB
The blue car is Duncans, the 420 is the 86 motor show car i think.Tim will say if i'm wrong.

The Silver 420 SEAC was the motor show car. I have a photo of it somewhere, must have been from the 1986 or 1988 show.
Nige'
There were 3 different silver show cars 1986, 1987, & 1988 the 1986 car is now black , the 1988 car is of course the biggest and the baddest
