EXHAUST REMOVAL
Discussion
I'm having problems removing the right hand exhaust manifold. The bolts all came off easily and it is now loose in the engine bay. I still can't get access to the cylinder head bolts so need to take the manifold out. Has anybody any knowledge how you get it out? The gap between the engine and chassis rail seems too small to let the manifold drop out. Do you have to remove the engine mounting? The starter is still on because I couldn't take it off wiithout removing the manifold first.

Ive removed both manafolds on saturday afternoon, the left comes off easy, the right will require the starter to be removed first, this should be able to be twisted for it to come out then you can jiggle the manafold out from the bottom.
the bold size ive got at 9/16th and can be slackened by a spanner then strong fingers, it only too me about an hour to remove the full system and clean it up ready to go back with new gaskets.
Good luck

Did mine a couple of weeks ago, its a bit of a bugger of a job. I needed to remove the starter motor & unbolt the engine mount to jack the engine up a couple of inches before it came out.
I got the manifold mating faces skimmed as there was next to sod all mating surface around some of the ports. Hopefully it'll stop exhaust gaskets blowing so often.

Just finished refitting the heads on mine
Near side easy.
Off side, had to undo the engine mount from the chassis and jack it up from the sump. A lot of messing around for one b
d head bolt!
The exhaust manifolds were easier to refit to the head this time than last for some reason, maybe I'v just got the 'hang of it' now!
