Cracked windscreen

Went in the garage this afternoon to take her for a spin only to find a large crack had appeared overnight.I wasnt aware of any chips, but now I need a new one. are they still available through one of the "glass companies" or can anyone reccommend someone?

I had mine done by RAC I think, but don't expect them to be able to fit the trims if you have them, the ones supplied by TVRCarparts just don't fit. So you'll get a 'naked' bond round the edges just like on the later cars.

Do a search for phil 530d or the likes, or windows on the wedge forum. They get good feedback and should be able to sort you out.

Yeh Phil at Mobile Windscreens in Bristol keeps all new screens in stock and can get one to anywhere in country usually next day - I had both the 400 & 450 screens replaced by them and superb job on both occasions

What would be the approx cost through Phil at bristol to fit a windscreen on a 350 compared to going through your own insurance and paying the £50 excess !!

If I`m not mistaken, as Mobile Windscreens are the major player and are National, plus they actually produce the Wedge screens so are probably the only supplier in any case, its just a case of Mobile going through your Insurance Company and you simply paying the excess I believe - give them a call to check 1st, but IIRC I simply paid £100.00 excess which is a damn site better than the £575.00 retail price!

I have a very good used windscreen out of a 350i if any one wants it!
At present its still in the car, but I am having to cut the car up by the end of the year!
