I know this has been done before, but here goes anyway.
I need to replace my cam as it's sh@gged. I was thinking of a V8 Developments Stealth cam. Anyone got any opinions on this, or suggestions for a good cam for a 390.
On a slightly different, but related, subject. Do standard valley gaskets need modifying to fit the inlet ports on the heads, as they are quite large, probably larger than a standard RV8? Also tin or composite valley gasket?

I heard good things about the Stealth, I think your need new double valve springs, also check the lift will not hit your pistons.I need to replace my cam as it's sh@gged. I was thinking of a V8 Developments Stealth cam. Anyone got any opinions on this, or suggestions for a good cam for a 390.

Composite valley gaskets are the way to go now. the very early composite ones had problems but this has been sorted.

Leigh,
It's got double springs already anyway, or is that in case they become coil bound. Can't be @rsed changing valve springs. I'll maybe go for the same as what's in, but with all the lobes there instead of one being totally gone.
The pistons are pocketed so it should be ok. Managed to blag a Snap-on borescope and had a deco.

No experience with the cam you are asking for.... Still running standard in a standard 3.5.
Pockets in the pistons is a good sign, but it depends on the valve lift of the cam. If installing a new wild cam it wouldn't hurt to check if the lift is equal to the lift of the old cam (a few lobes should still be fine) and you are able to check.
Important is that if the valve lift is different from now (more or less) the tappet pre-load must be checked. On the RPI-site you can find all the information you need.
And new followers are required as a principle as well.

Rob,
Just bought Group A ajustable rockers, so that should take care of the preload.
A few little things like sourcing push rods to fit the afore-mentioned rockers. Got a couple of 1600 cross-flow push rods coming to try, as there's a rumour that thats what they used in the Group A racers. Cheap compared to custom made jobbies from John Eales, but we'll see.
