I splashed out on new Securon Automatic front seat belts in red from MiniSport Ltd. They still don't retract properly, but this will be sorted in my Rebuild Part 2.

I got mine from Rimmers but they appear at most kit car or specialist parts suppliers. Rimmers do 2 types a factory replacement or an alternative which tends to be cheaper.

The car they are used from is a Triumph Spitfire or any of the later TR versions.

I replaced the belts on my Tasmin with those from a Mini (the proper one, not the BMW thing) - they went straight in.
The usual poor retraction is caused by the belt rubbing against a steel reinforcing bar that runs across the car behind the seats, directly above the belt reels.
TVRs fix was to glue two bits of vinyl to the tube to reduce the friction, but it doesn't do much after 20-odd years.
As far as I recall, the very early cars - at any rate the fixed heads - didn't have the bar so didn't suffer the problem.
It might be worth the while of the next person replacing the chassis plates to look into repositioning the reel an inch further forward to alleviate the problem.
